Incidentally

If anyone from Banana Republic happens to be reading this, God bless you for the tall sweaters. For the first time in my life, I am typing in a women's sweater that does not leave 2 or 3 inches of wrist flapping in the wind. And any other clothing manufacturers who want to think about expanding their lines of tall offerings into more of their sweaters, jackets, and t-shirts . . . well, tall women have higher earnings than average, is all I'm saying. I am prepared to become a slavishly loyal consumer of any store that will allow me to walk into their store and buy any piece of clothing I want without worrying about inseams, sleeves, or waists that fall somewhere around my upper ribcage. Just something to think about.

Talls in the catalog, maybe. Talls in the store, only at Tall Girls (at Tysons).

Men's retailers have long since stopped stocking talls in their stores (even Eddie Bauer). You "gals" have it even tougher.

God bless the internet, where we can all find our sizes!

Signed: tall, long rise, B-width shoes.

This post is useless without pictures ...

Eddie Bauer.

I recently noticed the same thing at Banana Republic. I'm pretty tall for a guy (6'4"), but my problem is exacerbated by my having arms that are unusually long (38"), even for my height. As a result, I'm stuck with having dress shirts custom-tailored (because the stock "tall" sizes are all for someone who weighs about 300 lbs). Of course custom-tailored sweaters are more difficult to come by, so I was happy to find a few sweaters off the shelf there that fit me well, which I've only otherwise found from Patagonia.

well, Megan, when I open my custom store that does a basic body scan, and then custom knits clothing on the spot...

I'll give you a call.

hmm, actually not a bad idea. This from a 6' tall guy with a 54" chest [with the shoulders that go with it] but a 40" waist. [for those keeping score, suits are generally 4" less in the waist than the chest, 14" and you're talking having the pants re-made. It's expensive!] Custom suit? this is why I don't own a suit... oh yeah, the 36" armlength is a trouble too.

My wife has the same problem, but she is the other extreme(4'11" tall). She cann't buy children clothing, because she is built like a woman. I keep saying that someone should automate making custom clothing. There are large sections of the population that are just not average.

I sympathize with you guys, even D, but only because he's kick my butt for excluding him.

I'd love to know where I can find shoes in 14B. Yes, my foot looks like a ski.

I get all my clothes from a small online store called luxuriouslytall.com. It is funny having to hem pants because they are too long ;-)The sweaters are nice and long too and they have some fun party things sometimes also.

I totally sympathize--I'm 5'10" and while clothes might fit (almost) at the store, one wash and pants and sleeves retract embarrasingly. We are not freaks! Make us clothes that fit!

You know, the Gap often has tall pants in stock--I am pretty loyal to them for pants.

God bless the internet for tall people. LT shirts & coats, 14 feet and size 8 hat. I can actually find clothing that fits and looks good. I can even find Hawaiian shirts that don't fit like a tent! Your basic box store simply can't stock the odd sizes. Big & Tall Men's stores tend to focus on fat guys.
