A commenter in the last post asks what I use for making coffee. The answer is this Cuisinart model, which uses an internal carafe. It makes good coffee, keeps it hot without that burned flavor because the carafe is internal, and has a little gauge to tell you how much coffee is left. Less mess, better coffee, and it's a huge hit at brunch.

What's your favorite coffee bean?
I'd like to know if anyone has investigated the possibility of genetic tampering with coffee in recent years to make it more addictive. For some reason coffee drinkers are no longer able to STOP TALKING about their drug of choice.
Even confirmed potheads are now less annoying than coffee addicts.
You sound like a French Roast drinker.
I've been playing with Kona, but my current fallback is Sumatran.
But Megan, can you remove the internal carafe to wash it? I love Cuisinart coffee makers and this looks like a good one, but all of my past experience with internal carafe models usually involves them getting really gross and disgusting over time. They usually are really hard to clean.
Also, does it use a #2 or #4 cone filter? I assume it does since it's a Cuisinart, but you never know. Basket filters are the worst.
It uses a gold basket filter, I'm afraid. But the carafe is removable; I clean it every time I use it.
I read that as 'internet carafe'.
I was momentarily left to wonder what a coffeemaker did with internet access... (SNMP monitoring of coffee level, age, and temperature? Been done, I believe, but not commercially.)
Sumatran - that's pretty earthy? Libertarians tend to favor Kenyan. No? jk - The French Roast comment was for Moe.
