It's admittedly a small start, but this year we're going to have a traditional Christmas in one respect. Instead of roast beef, or ham, or turkey, we're going to be having the most traditional food of all: goose. I've wanted goose ever since reading about one in a Dickens story when I was maybe 10 years ago.
No one else in the household is particularly thrilled about the idea of goose, but I'm all excited.
I haven't eaten goose, but I have eaten both roast turkey (delicious) and roast duck (greasy and slightly strong in flavor), and my understanding is that goose basically splits the difference.
I hope yours turns out well, but I wouldn't inflate the expectations too much.
