Favorite headline of the day: "GOP claims Democrats are waging 'war' on the economy."
So many questions about this . . . is it a preemptive, preventative, or defensive war? If the economy loses, can Democrats build military bases in its territory? Will economists greet the Democrats with flowers?

Sure Democrats are waging war on the economy!
They're firing a HOWITZER at investment via triple-taxation: "dividend income + corporate income + capital gains taxes".
They're laying down the SUPRESSIVE FIRE on innovation but opposing tort reform, which would make it harder to get obscene, unforseeable jury damages.
They're calling in AIR STRIKES on potential efficiency gains by preferring burdensome, complicated regulations over externality taxes.
Want me to go on? =-D
Wow, we've come a long way from "It's the economy, stoopid."
Or maybe we just mis-interpreted the first president Clinton. I thought he meant it was a problem that needed fixing. Maybe he meant it was a problem that needed the triple-threat smackdown outlined by Person above.
What is your point, that only Democrats say stupid things? Remember when George Bush defended agricultural subsidies because "people have to eat"? Remember when he said he wanted Rumsfeld to be SecDefense through the end of his Administration? Remember when he said he just learned about the "new" intelligence report on Iran a week ago?
Er . . . I believe I was making fun of the GOP.
Megan_McArdle: What did you think about my post??? I can do some more.
by the way: "but opposing tort reform" should read "by opposing tort reform".
