Breaking Ron Paul news

17 Jan 2008 08:03 pm

I know, if you're not a libertarian, you're sick of it already. But Reason reports that Tom Lizardo, one of Ron Paul's congressional aides, has gone on the record backing the Lew Rockwell story. He says that Ron Paul's secretary prepared a press release outing Rockwell, and Ron Paul approved it, before it was quashed by Kent Snyder, the campaign chair.

Now back to your regularly scheduled econblogging. Er . . . tomorrow, I mean, after I've filed the article I'm working on.

Where does Ken Snyder hail from ?

funny, I was going to point out that 'Ken' was a typo--Kent Snyder

still, anyone have any background on Kent?

I dreamed that Ron Paul had a tiller growing out of his back and I was riding him like a skiff, tacking this way and that against the winds, and then Karen DeCoster led a mob angrily demanding, "Why are you steering Ron Paul????"

Ron Lizardo? Is Ron Paul's staff working on an Oscillation Overthruster?

I think it's worse Eric. Lizardo may be a red Lectroid from planet ten!

Although, I suppose it would be planet nine now, what with the demotion of Pluto.

Don't have to be a libertarian to be sick of punctillious coverage of a fringe candidate's murky past...

Actually, Tom Lizardo is not "a Chief Aide" to Ron Paul, he is "the Chief Aide." Lizardo has served as Paul's Chief of Staff since 1997.

And Kent Snyder hails from Kansas. He was involved with Ron Paul's 1988 Libertarian Presidential campaign. Then he got lost for a decade, word was he became a devout Budhist out in San Francisco and shaved his head, (no kidding here).

He has always been tied in with David Mertz, alias David James, in Northern Virginia. Mertz is Ron Paul's top super behind the scenes fundraiser.

At least one of the higher ups in the campaign had his head on straight. Word on the street is that Lizardo left the campaign over this BS.

introduced to this blog by a friend of mine, i'm disgusted by the arm-chair-critic-elitist-liberal-semantic-obsessed views of the author and its some of its readers.
maye ron paul has introduced common people who don't know the difference between paleo and cosmo libertarian, and the elite are worried about their knowledge being infiltrated and misrepresented.
welcome the most attention libertarians will get in a long time because of ron paul. stop imploding like the democrats always do. reserve your wars till after a libertarian is in power.

It's even worse than you think. We also capitalize the first letter of sentences in an effort to make our crazy screeds look educated.

Maybe they're legitimately worried about Ron Paul being an unstable nuthatch who has regularly associated with a destructive group of people. Oh, we capitalize proper nouns, too.

They're getting the wrong kind of attention, that's the problem. "This is the best we've got, so let's work with it", is not the proper response from a group of people who claim to be offering an alternative to the mainstream parties -- which have, in fact, have been running (down) the process with that same mantra.

anony-

what does the above mean?/ what are you trying to convey?

We also capitalize the first letter of sentences in an effort to make our crazy screeds look educated. ... Oh, we capitalize proper nouns, too. sayeth the mouse.

"boss i am disappointed in some of your readers," sayeth the cockroach, weary of having to explain the mechanics of his literary output. " ... they are always interested in technical details when the main question is whether the stuff is literature or not."

buzz off, mouse, or i will get mehitabel after you.

Disgusted (with a capital D)

anony-mouse,
What are you going to read into the lack of capital letters in the beginning of sentences and on pronouns? Lack of a full keyboard on a cell phone equates to non-elitist thoughts? (A fragment.. must be whimsical thinking!)

"Wrong kind of attention"? Guess you don't understand why some Christians were happy about the Da Vinci Code book. Exploit the situation to further their goals.... (Another fragment.. must be a bad metaphor.)

Imagine a scenario where a libertarian is in the White House... Try hard... Then, start a debate on the right kind of libertarian or the wrong kind. Right now there is NO legitimacy of an alternative to the mainstream parties.

Oh, and "-- which have, in fact, have been running (down) the process with that same mantra", doesn't make any sense, as MEH is rightly quizzing. Perhaps a refresher with Strunk and White is in order?

Njorl,

Anyone that can work in a reference to Buckeroo Banzai can't be all bad.

As an example, take a look at Bush. Ran as a Republican, elected as a Republican...and then never saw a bill for spending or a government size increase that he couldn't sign.

This is merely one example of the two mainstream parties running the process into the ground by simply fielding "the best guy we've got" rather than one who might actually codify, and stick with, a set of fundamental party principles to the greatest extent possible.

Ron Paul, unfortunately for the LPs, is no different. Sure, he carries some of the Libertarian talking points...in between Gold Buggery, permitting racists (or at the very least, loud-mouthed race baiters) to fill in the blank beneath his byline for a number of years, strange immigration ideas, and who knows what else. As such, I am not persuaded by someone who argues "Well, he's at least got some of the right ideas out there! He got people's attention, didn't he?" Paul, if anything, has been counterproductive.

And speaking of which:

What are you going to read into the lack of capital letters in the beginning of sentences and on pronouns? Lack of a full keyboard on a cell phone equates to non-elitist thoughts? (A fragment.. must be whimsical thinking!)

Sorry, bud, but anyone who has time and energy to tap out "arm-chair-critic-elitist-liberal-semantic-obsessed views" has time to at least attempt normal sentence constructions. Also, bear in mind the rest of us haven't yet implemented enough spycam infrastructure to identify you as a cellular texter. Wandering blather that lacks conventional structure merely suggests that another culted Paul fan is phoning in from backwoods Kaczynski central.

You don't need any infrastructure other than an open mind.
I guess we'll watch our liberties eroded further as we argue about capital letters and gold standard.
I'll sleep in November, knowing I atleast tried.
Don't bother responding.

Let mee see if I've got his straight. The fringe candidate wants to restore our rights, hopefully restore a track for a robust economy and eliminate the weeds that sap our bank accounts. Non fringe want to perpetuate a trillion dollar war leading the country to bankruptcy. Continue with the Patriot act and posse commitatus (army taking citizens guns and arresting without warrant
and allowing illegals to stream accross the border to FURTHER TAX US AND DRIVE US TO DEPRESSION. Guess the only choice is the non-fringe and the complete destruction of life here as we've known it..WAKE UP!!!
