Giuliani concedes. The bit of the speech I saw was classy. Like most New Yorkers, I kind of think he's a maniac, but I was touched.

HAHAHA! As a fellow NYer, I couldn't agree more.

New York, New York!

Bad for Giuliani. Good for America!

Only if by "most New Yorkers" Megan actually means "people from the Upper West Side like her".

poor Rudy, all that Media coverage and the American voter still couldn't 'see' what the 'majority' of NYCers saw (?)

Al,

I doubt it..

yeah, I'm with Al. I don't really take it for granted that most New Yorkers think Giuliani is a maniac. I lived in NYC for three years (one in Queens, two in UWS) and most of the New Yorkers I knew raved about how he was the best thing that happened to the city.

I don't know enough about him and his policies to say one way or the other, but the prevailing sentiment amongst the New Yorkers I knew and talked to was quite positive.

Speaking as an (ex) New Yorker, I have to say Megan has it about right.

He was a maniac, and also a great mayor.
The two are not entirely incompatible.

I would have liked him as President too, though.

He cleaned up Times Square! He stood tall on 9/11! (from a safe distance...)

And Mussolini made the trains run on time.

You can find something good to say about anyone, if you really want to.

I just hope this torpedoes the "don't campaign until close to Super Tuesday" strategy. Those early primaries are important for vetting candidates and letting a reasonable number of "regular people" get a close look at them.
