Bear raid on Obama?

20 Mar 2008 07:46 am

The Wright problems are pretty great timing for Hillary Clinton. Just where did the rumors about him start, anyway?

Just some crazy 3 am thoughts.

For one, with Rolling Stone over a year ago, and it is a solvency crisis, not a liquidity crisis.

Do Obamabots have souls?

Mickey Kaus has been talking about it for quite awhile, too.

Is there really any question? The republicans would have held onto this until the fall. There is only one person with a strong incentive to derail Obama now.

Wouldn't "pretty great timing for Hillary Clinton" have been two months ago? And weren't the essential facts in the public domain by then?

These have been around for awhile. They were lying around waiting to be picked up when the media meta-narrative on the Obama campaign changed. All it took was a couple of changes of heart for it to explode onto the media scene. Not one of them had to be Ron Burkle's.

Some conservative sources have been on this story for months already.

Chris Dornan

if you think about it the timing was pretty much perfect for Obama--he didn't want to leave it to explode in the general; what better time than in this huge interregnum with the maths looking so good.

The "maths"? Methinks we have a Brit opining on our politics. The Rev. Wright baggage will be with Obama all the way until November, assuming he still gets the nomination.

Chris Dornan gets it right. Obama can't lose the nomination now, and he has 8 months for people to forget about Rev. Wright. Perfect timing, if that will really help things.

What makes things look grim for Obama is that any time a TV ad puts a photo of Obama alongside a sermon from Wright in a 30 second commercial, Obama will lose votes.

I think most white people will have a visceral negative reaction to those sermons.
