Google buys Doubleclick

11 Mar 2008 02:33 pm

The EU regulatory authorities have finally decided that yes, Google and Doubleclick can turn into a monstrous web advertising behemoth that will, in ten years or so, be renting us our air by the cubic meter. Irony of irony, Microsoft is whining to the EU regulators about excessive market powers. Anyone who may have been equating "big business" with "free market" should now carefully pick up their shattered illusions--mind the sharp edges!--and buy a textbook on public choice theory.

I can't decide which amuses me more

1. the fact that they felt compelled to have a picture 2. the fact that the credit for the picture specifically mentions where and when it was taken. 3. the title bar on the IE window in the picture.

if only you felt the professional obligation to: the fact that the credit for the (idea) specifically mentions where and when it was taken.

when it came to this: "be renting us our air by the cubic meter" old idea, updated, only by more psuedo-Euro pretense...

note to Hostess: take, the above, mildly..

As far as I know, it came from me--I've been making that joke about Microsoft for 15 years.

O Gee, MM,

"Google and Doubleclick can turn into a monstrous web advertising behemoth that will, in ten years or so, be renting us our air by the cubic meter."

explicitly refers to GOOG, not MSFT..
