Dealbreaker - Eliot Spitzer Vows To Crack Down On Excess Prostitute Pay:

Discovering that the exclusive international ring of prostitutes known as the "Emperor's Club" charged up to $5,500 an hour for their services, New York governor Eliot Spitzer vowed to put an end to this price gouging practice.

Four people alleged to have run the "Emperor's Club" were charged with conspiracy to violate federal prostitution statutes, while two of them were also charged with laundering more than $1 million in illegal proceeds.

"That kind of excessive compensation is simply outrageous. Prostitution is allegedly a victimless crime,” Spitzer said in a press conference that took place only in our imaginations. “But now we see that its customers can become its victims.”

Spitzer added it was especially shameful that one of the most trusted names in prostitution had engaged in this shocking betrayal and rank greed.

seeing as the price of Wheat has recently tripled, no wonder the Circus is back in town...

cant wait to see what happens to him...after everything that he put those that he prosectued through, i hope they throw the book at this jerk...his pompous, holier than thou attitude didnt seem to shine through today...all in all couldnt have happened to a better guy; elliot spitzer will go down as one of the biggest hypocrites in this nations history

Funny, nowhere in this Yahoo story does it mention that this guy is a Democrat.

The $5000/hour price tag is one element of this story I don't get. Elliot Spitzer's salary probably isn't much higher than mine, and I can't imagine spending $5000 on an hour of entertainment. When I spend that on a week-long vacation, I consider it rather extravagant. Where was he getting the money to do this regularly?!

Well... It seems that the governor of the State of New York can't do his job without close supervision.

Eliot, just wanted to thank you for the indescretion. I hope you spend many years in prison and will enjoy watching your demise.

Are you sure this isn't from The Onion?

Where was he getting the money to do this regularly?!

Your "?!" deserves its own "?!"

He's a politician.

They're not the good guys in this movie.

I thought the same thing when I read about the hookers hourly rate... I suspect there is more to come on this story.

Getting the money was no problem, Spitzer's family is very wealthy. His residence in New York City was owned by his father. Amasing money was never the motivator for Spitzer. I suspect that his motivation was power.

Spitzer could have an enormous opportunity to shed light on an issue we have not dared mention lately - impeachment. If he stays put, and is impeached for hiring prostitutes, then don't you think this will put impeachment of Bush and Cheney on the table for far worse offenses? I think so.

Be careful what you wish for, New York Republicans....

Spitzer's salary as listed last year in a NY Times article is a mere $179,000... so how does he have the funds to do this?
must be funds from .... unknown sources?
and why did he feel so comfortable dealing with this agency... maybe because the pimp had an Israeli passport?

we can eliminate bank robberies by eliminating banks. Save a lot of lives that way. Also eliminate gas stations and convenience stores.

Pamela, Spitzer's family is rich; so his public job has just kind of got him out of the house, given him a bit of socialization. President Calderon should offer him a Mexican driver's license.

People love this news item. at least 6 trivia teams last night had a spitzer related name

Remember, he was being watched because of suspicions of structuring.............the feds fell into the prostitution mess along the way.

I see that what you think, and reality, are separated by a long train ride.

Dream on.

Elliot could have a great future in Southwest Airlines commercials.

So Spitzer prosecutes the same crime that he commits. Interesting and a bit bi-polar in my opinion. He should have arrested her after he had illegal sex with her I guess.

Jim

I'm not sure if it's bipolar as simply being a classic case of denying the crime you feel yourself most drawn toward, by savaging it from the bully pulpit. See also: Ted Haggart.

Whoops....the old 'Force of Habbit thing strikes.

Princeton, Harvard. Lol It just goes to show you that common sense cannot be taught. Spitzer is just a well educated idiot.
