I really don't know what to think about the bombing of a recruiting station in Times Square. The obvious inference it that it's some dimwit who thinks that if he acts like the Weathermen, he'll be magically transported back to the halcyon days of 1969, when the LSD ran like wine and every student in America lined up to press their righteous crusade. But the police say it may be linked to two bombings of the British and Mexican consulates, which makes it sound more like a random lunatic who likes to watch things go bang. Either way, it's pretty sickening.

It must be particularly sickening to you, since you are "second to none in (your) admiration for our troops."
We bombed Iraq for peace and hippies bomb recruiting stations for peace. What's important isn't the bomb, it's that your using it for PEACE.
Um, Jolly, you're an ass.
Megan, wouldn't the least hypothesis be that it's *somehow* political? Anyone seen Lew Rockwell recently?
I'm just sayin'.
I'm just sayin'.
Well, from what I understand the former Weathermen do quite well for themselves these days. They never even had to admit they were wrong. So, violence pays, doesn't it?
At least it doesn't seem to hurt.

Undoubtedly. The fact that one was a thug state run by a calculating sadistic maniac, and the other is a free state capable of being changed by a peaceful and orderly process, is just a string of irrelevant details. Pass the bong.
Thank God it was done at 3:45am, otherwise we might have lost Naked Cowboy.

Funny... I'm pretty sure they used to say the same thing over there. Good thing our god proved better then their god otherwise our might wouldn't have become right. But it has and now we can (with as much rightous indignation as we like) proclaim our bombs are GOOD - and everyone else's bombs are EVIL.
Like I said, bombing is ok so long as you have love (and/or peace) in your heart. :\
Consider the bong passed.
Consider the bong passed.
You used up all the good stuff out of it. NOW what am I supposed to smoke while reading that split-pea soup of confused moral relativism that you just posted?
Yeah, consider Robert S the troll of the thread.
Oh, now I get it! Any thing that shows the American Empire in a bad light, or merely compares its actions to the actions of other nations, or questions the lies told in civics class, is "moral relativism." Thanks for clearing that up.
P. S.: Aren't all states/gov'ts. & the like "thug state[s] run by a calculating sadistic maniac," by glibertarian definition?
P. P. S: And if you think U. S. adventurism in Iraq is not a classic demonstration of a "thug state run by a calculating sadistic maniac," (except for the "calculating" part) you don't understand moral equivalency either.
There was no question Saddam was a brutal SOB. He didn't waterboard, he used industrial shredders. That said, it is also true that we have more then just a little bit of that thug mentality ourselves. Just because we mopped the floor with the Iraqi army on the battlefield doesn’t make us any more moral or the cause more just. It just means we’re so wealthy we can afford to build the army to do it and belligerent enough to pull the trigger.
Moot points now, I know. What really initiated my comment here in the first place was the title of the post. I personally find it comforting that both the US military and those crazy hippies are using their bombs for peace, not only because it’s a neat trick (bombs generally being made for war and not peace) but because there’s love in them their bombs. After all, isn’t that what US soldiers & hippies are all about… peace and love? So it’s nice to see that reflected in their weapons and good to know if you ever get caught by one.
Btw Halfy, two posts do not a troll make. Bong’s to you, dude. And don’t listen to that mouse guy. Just because he doesn’t know where to look doesn’t mean there isn’t a _lot_ more in that pipe! ;)
