Is there a reason I need to know about the legal, consensual sex acts of various tri-state governors? I know the economy is bad, but surely things are not yet so dire that we must look to our elected officials for pornography.

Have you been away from New York for so long that you've forgotten about section 255.17 of the New York Penal Law?
"Adultery is a class B misdemeanor."
Here in Connecticut, we have Jodi Rell as our governor. No sex scandals there. None at all, not in a million years.
John Rowland, The last governor had to leave for ethical reasons. However, it wasn't sex, but rather that state contractors added a bathroom to his weekend cottage for free, violating ethics laws.
That's not to say we don't have scandals here. The Waterbury mayor was arrested a few years ago for having sex with 15 year old girls in his office.
Well, since Paterson's affair was said to have been widely known, I think he was smart: he is now non-blackmailable, and he had the missus beside him, she had her own affair and they took each other back, and it was goddamnit an AFFAIR, with presumably fondness and feeling, and he presented it as a time of stress in the marriage. And he put it out when New York has no alternative for getting a Dem governor anytime soon, and when people were in a warm haze of feeling towards him.
In contrast to McG and Spitzer, he looks pretty good. And he's immunized.
I can't believe you don't understand how critical it is that our elected officials be as pure as Caesar's wife in their personal lives. We impeached a President because he lied about a blow job; partaking of prostitutes is far worse than that.
Let me rephrase: it is of critical importance that our elected DEMOCRATIC officials have personal lives beyond reproach. Larry Craig and David Vitter remain in office.
Also, a juicy sex scandal is good for ratings.
Let me rephrase: it is of critical importance that our elected DEMOCRATIC officials have personal lives beyond reproach. Larry Craig and David Vitter remain in office.
And who did David Vitter replace, why did that seat need replacing, and what was the political affiliation of the person who vacated it? Besides, any time you want to convince citizens of Idaho and Louisiana to raise a ruckus and deal with the offenders, be my guest; I've got no bets staked on their continuances.
I might also add that if the best thing you've got in response to a president and a state governor who were caught more or less in the act, is two rogue congresscritters, one of whom admitted to an act in his past and the other who was apparently engaged in lewd behavior but hadn't actually done it yet, that's pretty weak tea for a game of Gotcha. Kicking over that rock would be more a case of singing the Song That Never Ends and seeing who goes hoarse first.
Oh, and if you want to be purely cynical about it, perhaps one reason Democrats get nailed harder for it is that they flame out so much more spectacularly. I mean, seriously --Larry "Dirty Old Man" Craig, in the restroom, tapping his feet?
I'll see you, and raise you a Gary "Dare You to Follow Me" Hart, on a yacht named Monkey Business, with Donna Rice on his lap.
Your move.
Mind you if we do decide we have to look to our elected officials to pornography, McCain and Clinton are kind of screwed.
Re: ...the other who was apparently engaged in lewd behavior but hadn't actually done it yet,
Do you really think Craig hadn't ever done anything before? I rather doubt even Li'l Orphan Annie could be that naive.
That bit about McGreevy and the three-way was amusing.
"McCain and Clinton are kind of screwed."
What? Together? Don't think the pay per view revenues will be all that high on that tape.
you know that there probably isn't enough brain clorox in the world for this conversation...
..."Democrats get nailed harder"...
Pissed myself laughing
Tim: Maybe that tape would be the answer for for-profit web sites when the nagging ads no longer persuade people to subscribe - "pay up NOW or we'll show the rest of it"
