Are vegetarians evil?

08 Apr 2008 11:11 am

This site says yes. You might think hard about my secret army of PETA ninjas before you make rash remarks about my tax policy ideas.

I personally think just naive.

I challenge you and your ninja army to a duel here:

I'll be the one yelling "You shall not pass!" at the Cordeiro skewer. (It's OK, lamb's vegetarian, I hear it in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding").

I only browsed a bit through that site, but I find nothing inconsistent with its being a joke.

PETA ninjas?

You mean the ones I just made turtle soup out of?

Oh sorry, I didn't mean to eat your lunch.... so to speak.

Your PETA ninjas are going to be helpless when I take the dog hostage.

Megan does seem a bit angry lately: http://www.vegetariansareevil.com/aggression.html

Ha! The dog *is* a PETA ninja.

I wouldn't say evil so much as just misguided. Existential guilt? LOL

And the site is now down due to capacity issues. Megan's evil vegetarian powers have claimed another victim.

This seems a good place to say thank you for the clever vegan-friendly call of Manwich and Boca crumbles, especially once you add fresh ginger, jalapeƱo, other refrigerator veggie stuff.

The Lenten Christian Orthodox everywhere thank you, including the historic warrior (pre-ninja) sects.

The fact that there is a question about whether an obviously satirical site is meant to be a joke is another data point in my theory that going meatless, while improving certain aspects of health (e.g. cholesterol level), causes a rapid deterioration of the body's sense of humor.

However, much as vegetarians learn to replace meat-based nutrients through other foods, they often successfully replace the aforementioned sense of humor with judgmental intolerance.

This is a very amusing site. Someone has put a lot of work into it, and it looks really good. I still haven't figured out what its real message, if any, is supposed to be. But as an evil vegetarian, I say there's no such thing as bad publicity.

It's kind of funny.

I do think there've been some notably evil vegetarians or at least a few people became vegetarians for basically misanthropic reasons. Individuals who hate people, but love animals, do seem a bit drawn to vegetarianism. Although hating people itself I don't think would do much on making vegetarianism appealing.

I believe Megan may have received the link to this site indirectly from me. I assure you, this site is quite serious. While some of it is beserk (I do not believe that "soy makes kids gay"), about one third of it makes some sense. Vegetarianism IS, in my belief, unhealthy, dangerous to children, and morally questionable. So there!

Of course our diet of red meat and butter is SOOOO much healthier.

Ignore my husband. I know I do.

Please. The website merely calls for occasional use of lean fish, chicken, or meat to balance our naturally omnivorous diet. I'm not suggesting that everyone eat sticks of butter like candy bars (as I do).

I am the author of the site, http://www.vegetariansareevil.com.

I created the site just over a year ago on a whim - after hearing from a particularly annoying vegetarian friend about how much more moral his family's diet was than mine.

I have not given it much thought since, until when I was checking my portfolio of several dozen sites, I noticed a blip in the traffic, so followed it back to this site.

After hearing from my vegetarian friend - who became rather cranky after giving up meat and was always hungry and irritable - for the umpteenth time about how Albert Einstein was a vegetarian, I created a site pointing out the bad points of vegetarianism and a vegetarian diet.

The site does not make a red cent - I have a number of sites that actually do earn money and pay their keep, but this site I built in a few days and it was really an exercise in a number of web technologies (which do not always work in Firefox). I have used some Ajax and other technology and never thought that the site would get so much attention.

The site gets a hysterical response from vegetarians who love to criticize the dietary choices of non-vegetarians, but shriek in horror if anyone points out a single negative fact regarding their dietary choice.

I leave the site up just for fun. Vegetarians and vegans need to see this kind of material. Maybe some day, they will take a bite of kielbasa and their sense of humor might return.
