Oh, dear

I don't know if this is a joke or not. I'm afraid to login and find out.

I believe that this was mentioned in that recent NY Times piece, "It's Not You - It's Your Books", about people having second thoughts about their new love interests when they see what they actually like to read. So this may well be real.

Admittedly, being seen as real by the New York Times isn't the strongest evidence that something exists, but it's better than nothing.

The site has a link to an "About Ayn Rand" page. Shouldn't people who sign up already know about Ayn Rand?

Oh, go ahead and login. Admit it, you are dying to find out about those 8007 dating profiles. Who know, maybe you'll meet your Dagny Taggart!

OOPS, sorry, thought I was on Matt's page. Damn Atlantic blogs all look alike. Um, you're John Galt? Reardon? Whoever.

Oh it's real. Not nearly enough people use it for it to be good for much, but yeah, it's real.

The only thing I could say about somebody who actually expects to get dates from this site: good luck.
On the other hand, I pity the fool.

Under what circumstances would that not be a joke?

Along with Little Green Footballs and the rest of the rube-o-sphere, we get another website that guarantees an average IQ in the low 80s.

What's wrong with some hot girl on Taggart action, Aaron?

Ayn Rand would hump a stuffed antelope or a parking meter, truth be told. And Leonard Peikoff was really a drag king.

So Megan, you looking for a date?

I read Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead (and saw the movie). Also read Nathaniel Branded, Barbara Branden and read, long ago Randian, Alan Greenspan's new book The Age of Turbulence.

Do I qualify?

Isn't all dating "niche dating"?

"Isn't all dating "niche dating"?"

Thank you!!!

Yes, it seems -- gasp! -- a group of people who are otherwise marginalized and shunned from polite society have decided to make it easier to find a date. And as we know -- all you tech savvy bloggers -- there's nothing new about dating sites. So I guess it's not that objectivists are forming a dating site that's hi-larious, but the fact that OBJECTIVISTS are forming a dating site that is. I mean it's bad enough that they exist, now they want to DATE!!! Jesus, next thing you know, there's gonna be like a Christian dating service, or a Jewish dating service ... oh wait.

And anyway didn't this blog used to be called Jane Galt?

Lesbitarian,

My sincere apologies. Certainly if Ms. McArdle would like to be taken into the firm but gentle carass of a lady railroad magnate, and dissolve into ecstasy as her highest values are met, let it be. Too much hate in the world to stand in the way of love. Likewise Rand and the stuffed antelope and parking meter. Have at it, I say!

Are 15-year-old high school Republicans allowed to join online dating sites? cuz that's basically the core of objectivists out there. This reminds me of Star Trek dating sites. Somehow I don't think the 20:1 male:female ratio is really going to help matters.
