Could you write something on the Obama green jobs program? Renewable energy's important, obviously, but I tend to worry that big government subsidies will (a) lead to market inefficiencies, whereas if we just let the green fuel market grow on its own we'd end up with cheaper alternatives to what we've got, and (b) lobbies will push for subsidies on stuff like starch ethanol, which, from the very little I've read, takes just as much fossil fuel to produce as it replaces.
Suggestion:
Minimize the chat program when doing these programs so that you'll actually look at the camera when talking. It's distracting and disengaging for you not to look at the camera, both (I can imagine) for the person you're chatting with and for the viewer.
You two are the best.
Here's my take on the sexism hurt v. racism help bit: Sexism helped her tremendously! People, including you, like to talk about the petty work-a-day sexism from aging Irish pundits on the TVs, but that seems only to have fired up her base. I would argue the real sexism is evident at every Hillary rally, summed up on the button "Miss Bill? Vote Hill!" _That_ is sexism, the idea that she's nothing but an outgrowth of Bill's ego, just a proxy for his return to the White House. And it's the "hard working white Americans" who most subscribe to this view. I had to get this because I kept wondering for months why she wouldn't give a gender speech to rebuke the media treatment and the "oh, but it's two-for-one" wailing that Obama people have been parroting; she didn't give that speech because she knows this kind of sexism is one of her greatest assets. Great blogging heads tho!
I generally prefer READING to watching or listening, but I decided to watch this one in the bath tub.
Two comments:
1) What is WITH that deer-in-the-headlight look? Except when you were actually talking (looking just fine), being called an ignorant slut (big smile - yes, I recognize the SNL reference), or sipping you seem to be making these huge blinking eyes straight forward with the rest of the face paralyzed. Drezner looked much more relaxed.
2)Would you mind running for office? Your policy suggestions (deregulation, simplification, etc - even pardoning all the drug offenders, or maybe that was the professor's) sounded just SO much better than what is on the table right now. Maybe at least be an adviser or something if you don't want to walk that wimp/bitch tightrope....
