Lord, grant me a gun and self restraint . . .

. . . but not yet, Oh Lord, not yet. Apparently, it will be a little while before we can actually have guns in the district.

This reminds me of when Homer goes to buy his gun and is told about the mandatory waiting period, and says "But I won't be mad anymore by then!"

That episode was one of the funniest bits of social commentary the Simpsons writers have ever contrived, probably because it was balanced -- Homer plays the role of the irresponsible dolt who has seen too many action movies; the NRA group initially looks like a club full of machine-gun wielding maniacs, but then proves to be obsessive about gun safety when Homer's wreckless behavior is revealed; Lisa tosses out the statistical homilies and collective-right 2A lingo; and Marge takes the role of the gun-shy nagster, up until the last thirty seconds of the show, when Homer finally surrenders the gun to her for final disposal and she suddenly discovers she can't let go of it.

Twenty-three minutes of sheer genius.

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Maybe this makes me a geek, but I have been waiting for this day since I first learned that this case was going to SCOTUS. Way to go Robert Levy!

I'm going window shopping at Atlantic Guns in Silver Spring after work.

Are you technically allowed to enforce a low that was just found unconstitutional?

Ya know, the text actually says bear arms, not just firearms. Strap on some Thatchers and carry an aluminum bat. Feel the splash of soft skin giving way, and the crunch of bone come through the aluminum.

I mean really, pulling triggers from far away is for wussies who grew up playing videogames. Go all the way.

But remember this too. If you're going to be driving a car, pay more attention to the peds and cyclists around you, make sure to signal, and be sure of who you're pointing that middle finger at. You won't be the only one packin' heat.
