Barack Obama says grandmother may not see election day

24 Oct 2008 03:14 pm

According to the AP.  Old people often hang on until some special event, like a grandchild's wedding--or his election as President of the United States.  In fact, there's evidence that some people live--or die--to best time changes in the estate tax.  Here's hoping that his grandmother lives to see a happy, happy result.

Will she live long enough to shed some light on whether Obama was actually born in the U.S., or in Kenya, as his paternal grandmother has said? By the way, when will Obama produce proof of his American citizenship, as this lawsuit in U.S. District Court requires?

oh real Fred, you come up with so much more fucking stupidity than I could ever dream.

Will she live long enough to shed some light on whether Obama was actually born in the U.S., or in Kenya...

Who cares? His mother was a US citizen. I can't see how he's anything but a natural born citizen.

Fred, vote McCain, you'll fit right in. By the way Jus Sanguin, ever heard of it? It means that if you are the offspring of an American citizen you can be born on an icecap in the North Atlantic and be a bona-fide US citizen.

Now I second Megan's hope, but it ain't over yet and until it is I'll be working hard to make Fred and others who say Barack Husein Obama is an outsider, or unamerican, or whatever they wish, I'll be working hard to make them want to move into militias in 2009. Back to the grindstone.

"It means that if you are the offspring of an American citizen you can be born on an icecap in the North Atlantic and be a bona-fide US citizen."

But if you became an Indonesian citizen (as he allegedly had to to attend school there, since there was no dual citizenship available) you would have given up your American citizenship.

Bear in mind, that if the claim in the lawsuit were a crock of crap, one of two things would have happened already:

1) It would have been thrown out of court by the federal judge.

2) Obama would have produced the documents to prove the claim wrong.

Neither has happened.

Fred,

You dumb cunt - McCain was born in PANAMA.

Actually, ben, interestingyl I think there was a Supreme Court case a ways back on this to the effect that it's not enough to be the offspring of an American citizen -- the child, born abroad, of a foreign mother and an American fater not legally married to her, isn't a citizen -- but an American mother's child, born abroad and out-of-wedlock, is. The law has to bend before nature.
Not relevant to Obama of course but there you go.

I was wonderin'........did he visit his grandmother when he was vactioning there in August?

Like I said......I was just wonderin'......

Fred you have to formally renounce your US citizenship, unless you fight in a foreign Army. Something Obama hasn't done. Real Fred get him. I really have to go.

ben,

believe it or not, 'Real Fred' is the one who started this horseshit.

And why are you wonderin' jwh - what a fucking stupid thing to wonder.

I agree. One of the things I couldn't help thinking during the primary season was how proud his mother would have been of him. (Perhaps that's the proud mother in me.)

I hope his grandmother lives long enough to see him in the White House. These diagnoses can often be wrong, as they were in the case of my mom. Hopefully she will snap back to health and will live to see her grandson take the oath of office.

Guys, don't listen to Fred.
I've seen him take a the hostile extreme conservative-hating position. Today he is taking the hostile extreme liberal-hating position. It's all for lulz, just don't respond to him.

Just like a typical white person: she'd rather die than see a black man become president.

Seriously, though, I feel for him. This is the woman who raised him, after all.

God you can see why some bloggers don't allow comments...

Anyway, let's just hope for the best!

Did she break her hip when Obama threw her under the bus after his Reverend Wright scare?

Why would Obama say this? When you are dealing with a gravely ill relative, the usual deal is to reassure them. How do you think 'Toot' will feel when she sees her grandson on TV saying she might not live until election day? That might cause enough despair to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe that was the idea.

"Bear in mind, that if the claim in the lawsuit were a crock of crap, one of two things would have happened already:

Ugh...reading this helps me imagine how Megan must feel when she reads supposedly "expert" economic commentary by people without background in economics.

Any first year law student reading Berg's arguments would be able to spot his blatant errors that demonstrate him to either be a complete moron or completely frivolous....I will be shocked if his filings don't result in some form of sanctions from the judge. Either way, it is amazing to me how many people I've seen today who are suddenly experts on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (not to mention the Local Rules of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania) simply because they believe Berg is accurately representing the disposition of the case. He's not, and the fact is that: (1) it would be extraordinarily unusual for the judge to have issued a decision on a motion to dismiss by now when briefing would have concluded, if at all, within the last couple of days and there haven't been oral arguments yet; (2) a ruling on a motion to dismiss has exactly nothing to do with the adequacy (or inadequacy) of the alleged evidence; and (3) even if Berg is accurately representing the history of the case, the Obama campaign has not missed a single deadline.

It would be very nice if she went that long, but in people over 75 y.o., hip injuries are almost always very, very bad.

Don't ask why, that's just the way it is.

What a bunch of terrible people. I hope that Toot lives to see her grandson sworn in as president. That has to make her very proud.

I hope that Toot lives long enough to see McCain pull out a surprise win.

I hope I live long enough to see you get prostate cancer Juan.

As opposed to that family disease which causes genital warts and pus, which I understand you are only a carrier.

Shame what happened to your mother though. Just because the wives tale was to fuck a donkey....

I made a mistake - that cure was for your grandmother if I remember right.

The cure for your mother was to bath in the cum of the ten wise men of the village, no?

"I'll be working hard to make them want to move into militias in 2009."

See, this is the sort of thing that concerns me.

Wouldn't someone who actually supports Obama want the people who don't like him -- for whatever reason -- to say, after a wonderful year of having him as President, "Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad he won."?

Or is your support more about a bunch of accumulated hatred than it is about genuinely supporting Obama and his vision?

Maybe the notion of "punitive liberalism" is not too far from the truth, depending on where the critical mass lies, among Obama supporters.

God, what is wrong with you people?

Here's hoping that she lives long enough to see him elected and if she doesn't, that God gives her a front row seat.

Wow, Jane Galt has really fallen to Sully levels with this, tying her health to BHO's election. I knew she wasn't that bright based on my various evisceration of her JasonRiley-inspired blatherings, but this post is truly despicable.

jwh:

Obama visited his grandmother every day on his August vacation trip. Michelle and the children visited also.

SO STOP WONDERING

I thought Obama bringing her up during the Reverend Wright scandal was an incredibly scummy thing to do.

The woman raised him and was good to him, better to him it seems than his absent father and often absent mother.

He should have had the decency to keep his mouth shut until she died, or maybe even forever.

There's another thing I don't understand. She's a widow and her only child is dead. She's gravely ill and possibly on her deathbed. Who takes care of her?

Does she live alone in Hawaii?

Why doesn't her only grandchild bring her to live in his house so that she isn't alone?

AS: a) Obama's younger sister Maya--Toot's other grandchild--lives in Hawaii with her husband and daughter.
b) Yes, there's nothing fragile elderly people who've lived in one place for 60 years and have their lives and friendships there want more than to be transported many thousands of miles away for their last few months. Real compassion you show there.

I think this is a kind thing to do, and since he missed his mother's death--she was ill, he thought he had a couple of weeks to finish things up in Chicago and then make a visit--I understand it. The fetish of some on the right to make it an evil plot involving their birth certificate fantasies is very bizarre and ugly. It's been debunked 100 times now, but keeps emerging hydra like as their one last fantasy.

Will she live long enough to shed some light on whether Obama was actually born in the U.S., or in Kenya, as his paternal grandmother has said? By the way, when will Obama produce proof of his American citizenship, as this lawsuit in U.S. District Court requires?

When Barack was a newborn infant his parents figured that some day he might run for President and therefore would have to be a natural-born citizen. So to cover up his birth in Kenya, they arranged for a born-in-Hawaii birth announcement to be placed in the Honolulu Advertiser. Yep, Mom and Dad must've had incredible foresight.
