Why are you making light of a tragedy, the same day it happened? Show some class.

Gerta Torvaldssen

I don't think she was making light, Ed. I think it's good advice.

Keeping in mind the link and the history, I disagree.

WABC (click on my handle for the story) is reporting it as an apparent heart attack. I strongly suspect that the initial wire story (trampling, miscarriage) is wildly wrong.

The plan Insty and Pajamas Media ignored

Considering that a few days ago Insty linked to a McArdle piece and used it as a segue to link to Amazon (with his affiliate code so he gets paid when people buy from there), I'm only surprised that neither one of them took the story as a jumping off point to let us know about some wonderful sales at Amazon (with a link with their affiliate code).

If Insty had spent half the amount of time on promoting the plan at my name's link that he has on linking to Amazon, BHO might not be our new president. Insty and his friends at Pajamas Media had a very good chance to prevent BHO from being elected - or McCain from being nominated - but chose not to.

Doubt you'd see anyone trampled at, say, Norstrom's or Neiman-Marcus.

Megan is usually interesting at the intersection of 'what's socially right' and economics. Heart attacks are rare in 34 yo men notwithstanding the statement of Dr. Sipperstein to my medcal school class that a study on our casualties in the Korean War showed significant coronary atherosclerosis. Maybe Megan didn't want to enter into a Bolshevik opinion (such as the following). WalMart should close the store unless the employees vote to keep it open. Open a plaque goes by the door to his memory and the circumstances of his death. No postThanksgiving or other special sales should be held at the store for 100 years.

That's either awesome satire of a worldview bandied about in these parts or...um...a very, very unfortunate comment.

Gee, I didn't hear about any trampling deaths at the Wal-Marts in, say, Nebraska.

I wonder how those Wal-Marts are so different from this particular Wal-Mart. Anybody have any ideas?
