Maybe it’s just me, but were someone to serve up a batch of fetus-shaped cookies at a baby shower, I wouldn’t be able to make it to the Gift Unwrapping stage. (Via Megan McArdle.) ... [Read More]

Some restaurants in China sell fetus soup. It's believed that the human hormones are healthy and good for the complexion.

I could see them being ironic desserts at hipster parties. Or maybe a Mother's Day gift for the fundamentalist you're estranged from. Besides that...no, not really.

After all the baby-killing lobby has doen to dehumanize children as they execute millions of them, Megan, are you really suprised by this?

Remember the mantra of NOW: 9 months of pregnancy is worse than murder.

cookie cutting -- how lazy! When my wife was engorged with our son, the shower featured a crudely fetus shaped cake, complete with crudely shaped "boy parts" (we had learned about them from the sonogram). And everything turned out well.

I suppose I should add that if the baby shower occurs early enough in the pregnancy, you can use cupcakes.

Its just a cookie in the shape of a parasitic infestation that is frequently, legally, removed from women. What's the problem?

And then KM will wonder why his tube gets pulled against his will in 40 years.

You know, I'm curious what penalty Basic actually thinks should be given to mothers and doctors who perform, let's say, a first-trimester abortion. The death penalty? Life imprisonment? I mean, if you're going to say it's premeditated murder, that would be the logical conclusion, right? Yet I never hear anyone actually argue we should lock these mothers up for life, even radical protestors. Why not?

Yet I never hear anyone actually argue we should lock these mothers up for life, even radical protestors. Why not?

Because it's bad politics.

Hey Adam---sorry, I'm absolutely for locking up any woman who's had an abortion when her life wasn't on the line. For life. Without parole.

Thanks, Basic. At least your beliefs are consistent. I'd love to reframe the debate on those terms.

These will make excellent chasers for the actual fetuses I eat.

Adam, given your leftist leaninings and utter lack of logic, I'm sure "reframe the debate" means "completely change the subject and spout nonsense about how abortion is great and that liberals won the culture war and obama is the messiah."

I'm absolutely for locking up any woman who's had an abortion when her life wasn't on the line. For life. Without parole.

Basic, your pity for women who selfishly murder their own children to save their own lives marks you as a bleeding heart liberal. You are soft, weak-willed, and unwilling to do what must be done. There must be no mercy, no quarter for cowardly pregnant women who would choose abortion rather than endure the excruciating pain of dying while they give birth. Pain and death in childbirth is a maternal duty, the natural order of life! What fate could be more honorable and desirable for women, the receptacles of our mighty seed?

Basic, you do not go far enough! What about women who attempt to procure an abortion, but are caught before they can carry out the vile act? Shall we let them off with a mere ten years in prison, a veritable slap on the wrist? Nay! I say that they should promptly be thrown in jail and shackled to their bedposts for the remainder of their pregnancies, until the day their unholy water breaks, at which point their degenerate bodies shall promptly be strapped to the execution chair and readied for lethal injection the very second after the child be delivered!

Kill the women who procure and seek abortion! No, give them to the Pakistanis so that they may gang-rape them and pollute their dessicated wombs with their demonic Moslem fluids! Then, dismember them and feed their flesh to the Amazonian cannibals of the lower Americas!

They'd be perfect with homemade toothpicks fashioned from coat hangers.

Sorry to bother you, but X or Y, will you post a comment in here if you return an email to the professor. I am trying to get a hold of something and get my act together.

Hey, can we grandfather this "life starts at conception" stuff? I want to retire 9 months early.

I want one!!

"Hey Adam---sorry, I'm absolutely for locking up any woman who's had an abortion when her life wasn't on the line. For life. Without parole."

Sounds like a political winner. If Jindal officially proclaims that, I think Megan is right about having a Republican Obama, in fact one who can exorcise all his opponents and rivals and bring the True Healing.

If you want to talk about liberals winning the culture war with consumer products you should check out this website. I find them witty and ironic, but then, I'm an atheist.

On second thought, please ignore my comment. It is my problem not yours. It is pointless anyway.

And of course you need a Maternal Spy Bureau to keep watch and make sure that no pregnant woman who has a miscarriage, even when travelling in Europe or Asia, didn't really have an abortion.

-----I love when baby killers argue that saving children from being murdered is the equivalent to the police state.

I remember those orwellian brigades in the pre-Roe world. Oh wait....

I remember those orwellian brigades in the pre-Roe world.

Women got abortions in the pre-Roe world. Indeed, women have been aborting throughout human history. The period in America where abortion was illegal is a 70-year aberration in our history. Roe simply restored a right that had been there, for women, from the founding of the country - and only restricted as part of a campaign by surgeons to put midwives out of business.

No human society has every recognized conception as the beginning of life. Not even ours. Not even the pro-lifers - after all, they still mark their birth as the beginning of their lives when they calculate their ages. It's all just a ruse for control over women; it always has been.

No human society has every recognized conception as the beginning of life. Not even ours.

Ours prosecutes the killing of fetuses without the mother's consent as murder.

It's all just a ruse for control over women

I would be curious to hear more about your mind-reading skills. When did you first realize you had them? Do you use them only for good, or occasionally for evil?

Ours prosecutes the killing of fetuses without the mother's consent as murder.

Unjustly, and only recently. And not in most states.

And only because the pro-life lobby intended all along, with that legislation, to establish a beachhead to move against abortion rights, incrementally.

Looks like they fooled you, anyway.

I would be curious to hear more about your mind-reading skills.

It's not necessary to read any minds - only actions. When pro-lifers say that they're against abortions, but refuse to do anything that would reduce the number of abortions - support contraceptive access, comprehensive sex education in schools, etc - it's not hard to see that they're lying about their motives. When they promote only the actions that would make it harder for a woman to escape what they see as the "consequences of her actions", but leave an exception for victims of rape and incest, it's clear that what's at work is a judgment about what kind of sex it's "ok" for women to have.

I mean you do have the capacity to see when someone is full of shit, right, Rob? How could you possibly go through life not being able to detect a steaming pile of bullshit?
