You know, I'm curious what penalty Basic actually thinks should be given to mothers and doctors who perform, let's say, a first-trimester abortion. The death penalty? Life imprisonment? When pro-lifers say that they're against abortions, but refuse to do anything that would reduce the number of abortions - support contraceptive access, comprehensive sex education in schools, etc - it's not hard to see that they're lying about their motives. When they promote only the actions that would make it harder for a woman to escape what they see as the "consequences of her actions", but leave an exception for victims of rape and incest, it's clear that what's at work is a judgment about what kind of sex it's "ok" for women to have.
