I'm going on the BBC World Service's Newshour program around 3:30 EST to discuss Obama's speech.

Thank you! Every time I get to thinking about the last 8 years I get fired up for the next 8. We are almost done with Bush admin. policies.

From where I stand, this about sums it up:

That's right, newshonky....which means we're 8 hours closer to one of two possibilities:

1) the economic armageddon that Obama campaigned on, or

2) the truth that Obama is a lying politician who was merely pandering to voters like you......

I'm hoping it's number two, and in four years, you'll be counting down to the end of the next administration.

I heard it on my local NPR affiliate as I was driving (hadn't seen your blog post). It stood out as excellent. Substance-rich, jargon-free, balanced, clear, informative. Good radio work, too - no distracting verbal tics, for example, and just the right tempo of speech. And it sounded natural. Good work!

I would like to listen to this but it's already happened, obviously. Is it available on streaming somewhere?

Good question, Dick. I think that until Jan 14 you'll be able to stream it at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/000000_newshour_listen_again.shtml

- it would be Thurs, 1300 GMT. But you can only stream the entire hour, not individual segments. She's something like two-thirds of the way through it, if I remember right.
