That sound you hear

Is a little piece of my soul slowly dying.

Didn't I see a line item in the stimulus bill helping these ladies out?

There's a very good chance this whole thing is a hoax:

Still, that just replaces one depression scenario with another.

Ohh... I finally get to see how attractive they are!

Just what I thought: a bunch of 6's (and a 4) pretending that they're 9's. Laney Crowell is the only one who might turn a guy's head if you saw her in the street.

Does it make it worse to know that you probably contributed to their fame?

what number are you Staash?

Gotta love that free market!

Yancey -

Was it under subsidized prostitution? Anything to help these ladies get back off their feet.

James writes: "what number are you Staash?"

Whatever number I am, I'm able to get better action than that, and I'm able to get it much, much cheaper.

I'm with Staash. My wife looks better than any of those women and she's about eight years older.

Yeah, it's probably a hoax but man McArdle should watch out! Look at this trenchant economic analysis from their aptly titled "Ain’t Messin’ With No Broke Banker":

My take on his 180: having no steady source of income for the foreseeable future, he realized that his chances of securing another fashion industry type girl are pretty much zilch and so he is cleaving to me as the last vestige of his former high rolling lifestyle.

"Thanks to the recession, I now have a completely devoted BF, which is exactly what I wanted. So I should be happy, right? Wrong. I’m bored and can’t stop thinking about my perpetually unattainable Euro ex-boyfriend who is recession proof courtesy of an offshore trust account. To be honest, I’m only with my BF because I just don’t have the heart to change my facebook status from “in a relationship” to “I ain’t saying I’m a gold digger, but I ain’t messin’ with no broke banker.”

I agree with Staash. These ladies are far too homely for this line of work. They should go out and get some honest job skills while they're young enough to establish a career.

Rather obviously a hoax as I pointed out in the prior thread, but then Belle de Jour was an obvious hoax too and she got book deals and a TV show made about her obviously blog starring Billie Piper.

Another cause for suspicion: this site was getting virtually zero traffic until the New York Times did an article on them. Which forces us to ask why did the New York Times do an article on them? And a book deal almost immediately thereafter? This is clearly being maneuvered by a corporate interest, probably the book company, and the blog is simply marketing.

Perhaps McArdle's unemployed boyfriend could write a blog as a call girl who services Bernie Madoff, since he's got all that free time and can't chip in on the rent.
