Rampage shootings in Alabama and a German school. As a friend pithily noted that other day, "2009 just, well . . . sucks, doesn't it?" Yesterday seems to have been the distilled essence of 2009.

Yep, 2009 is horrible. So much so that mass murder and a lousy economy warrant being mentioned in the same breath.

Umm, yeah, so apparently the trolls are out in force this morning...
It seems like these rampages tend to occur disproportionately in the spring (thinking Virginia Tech, Columbine) - does anyone know if this is actually true, and if there is a psychological explanation? (maybe increased daylight/warm weather triggering something in unstable people).
Is MM going[*] for "most depressing blog" or something? The economic stuff wasn't bad enough, so now it's a daily dose of dead children. (The WaPo article about car-cooked babies literally made me retch.)

I remember when Megan stomped on me for using "fascist" to describe our wiretapping, torturing, war criminal former president what's-his-name. But she never seemed to mind creatures like "Basic Fact" too much. I guess that's why I've mostly stopped posting here.

After all, Germany has gun control, and according to liberals, this means that guns no longer exist there and shootings don't happen.

It would doubtless be tedious for you to acquaint yourself with the facts on how many shootings Germany suffers each year compared with how many the States suffers.
