Wow, an 18% win in VA.
And NJ really did go red.
Looks like Owens is going to hold on in NY-23. Will be interesting to watch the rematch next fall.
That's OK.
The goal in NY23 was accomplished. It was always a Democrat district. In fact, it was so Democrat that even so-called Republicans like DeDe Scuzzyfava were stealing conservative campaign donations to run as Republicans, but with the Democrat caucus.
That had two positives for the Democrats:
1) No matter who won, a solid Democrat vote would be sent to Washington
2) Republicans paid for it - haha suckers!
This is the danger of the RINO. Their entire purpose is to drain your campaign coffers.
I was hoping that Douglas Hoffman would win, but only because I'm a sucker for minor party candidates. Mercy knows that I don't find much else alluring about him.
I wonder if there will be any complaints from those who voted for Governor Corzine about Christopher Dagget spoiling the race for him. I don't even know what Mister Dagget's appeal, which is enough to win a tenth of the vote in a few counties, is and whether such accusations would make sense, but such things see to happen in any close race wherein the share of votes won by 'alternative' candidates is greater than utterly trivial. If said complaints are issued, a few people might make unimaginative pronouncements about electoral system reform, but nothing will in fact happen.
Meanwhile, here in Albany, Mayor Jennings walked into a fourth term as Mayor, which I swear I once read he had promised not to do. Second place went to Corey Ellis of the Working Families party, who won slightly greater than quarter of the vote. There's a Republican candidate, but nobody in Albany cares.
Daggett was supposed to have spoiled Christie (by being an "anyone but Corzine" target. Seems to have backfired rather badly.
I am sure you are wrong about Jennings. He only promised not to run for third term.:~)
Oy, I'm such a dummer.
I was doubly wrong, because he's just won his fifth term, not his fourth. Maybe he's decided to try a run at Erastus Corning III's record of eleven terms.
Meanwhile in Maine, I think we're bound for a tragedy.
I've been following the special election in NY-23 at the Albany Times-Union, which includes vote tallies by counties as well as in total. Mister Owens seems to have secured a remarkably comfortable margin of victory.
Hoffman lost. Hahahahahahahaha!! So much for that referendum on Obama. Since the teabagger lost, does that mean it's a bad omen for the teabagger movement? And that Beck will have a breakdown on TV tomorrow night?
Yep. Just as bad an omen as Lieberman's 2006 victory was for Kos Kidz hoping to win in '08.
Shhhhh. They can't even see the damage Scuzzyfava did to their cause.
She single-handedly just made Barack Obama a one-term lame duck President.
The guy is so pathetic he has to use the term "teabagger" because anyone who dares disagree with him must be smeared with a sexual term. Ignore him.
First "chickenhawk", now "teabagger". Dems really need to grow up.
