SNL's first dig at Obama (the "jack squat" sketch) drew lots of attention. It will be interesting to see if this does --
in my opinion, SNL pulled no punches and this one was far harder on Obama than the jack squat sketch.
my favorite line (from memory): It seems that all your plans to save money involve spending much more money.
I don't see it as being particularly hard on Obama, who's basically acting like a reasonable guy in a difficult situation there. Pretty hard on the US government, though.
Notice the white comedian showing his hind quarters to the black man.
Incredible racism from NBC.
Seriously? Dude, sometimes an ass is just an ass.
Technically, there is no actual black man in that sketch.
Another example of the liberal MSM and SNL adoring Obama. When will this adulation cease?
I know everyone thinks this is really hard on Obama. And perhaps it is, but only marginally so. The bit about Obama's wife is pretty offensive and unfair I think.
But really, Obama may be further indebting us to China, and further weakening the USA monetarily. But not anymore than his predecessors (monetarily).
And my biggest beef with this being a criticism of Obama? It's not mocking Obama personally, it's once again another skit using circumstances around Obama.
Clinton portrayed as a sex fiend, Bush as a dumb idiot and Obama as a nice guy that tries to stay calm and talks.
Now I know the detractors will say Bush is an idiot and Clinton a sex fiend, but those really aren't accurate depictions of the entire character, just part of them that was presented and blown up by the press.
When we see a skit showing Obama as a raving blogging lunatic liberal behind the scenes scheming for far left policies, and someone who talks a good talk in front of the camera, then we can see something actually mocking Obama.
Until then these writers are just chumps who think they are being rough on the guy the love by pointing out the tough situations he's in and having other people doing funny things around a character pretending to be cool, dispassionate Obama.
That was the funniest thing I've seen on SNL in years. Maybe they've found their new niche.
But not anymore than his predecessors (monetarily).
Well, if you're willing to ignore the actual numbers, maybe.
Ok granted. In principle Obama's predecessors were bad. Obama is worse monetarily.
I guess what I wanted to avoid is making it sound like his predecessors were roll models when it came to fiscal policy.
The SNL skit reflects President Obama's slide in approval ratings.

Some serious opinion writers in the MSM have even more damning comments on the President's recent trip to Asia.
Yeah, it's nothing like the good old days, when Presidents would tell them Chinese how it was gonna be, and they snapped right into line. (Joke essentially stolen from Fallows).
"Serious opinion writers in the MSM" = "well dressed gentlemen in the stables."
Hi Megan, I'm sorry to be off topic, although hopefully an off topic thread is a reasonable place. Are you going to blog about climategate? I'm curious what your thoughts are, particularly as someone who has more or less orthodox beliefs on the subject.
Personally, I'm just impressed to see SNL funny again outside the election runnup. Part of the reason there was the humor in the skit rested mainly on the "Chinese" characters and not on the actor's kind of weak Obama impersonation.
God, it brought out the Comic Book Guy in me. I fast-forwarded through all but 1-2 sketches. I even had to FFD through the cold open (shown above), because the "translator's" voice was so grating.
J-G Levitt is great, but a half-speed "Make 'Em Laugh" tribute? And it went downhill from there.
This was a very funny skit, but I am reminded of the quote: “If you owe the bank thousands, then the bank owns you. If you owe the bank millions, then you own the bank".
China has accumulated the reserves not so they could have some power over the US, but so they could have some reserves to prevent a run on their currency after the Asian financial crisis, and so they could keep their exchange rate low to promote exports. Now that they have so much invested in the US dollar, and now that their economy is so dependent on the US, it is more likely that we have more influence over China than we otherwise would have.
It was a funny bit. But, they had the wrong guy bending over. Obama's foreign policy strategy is to bend over to our adversaries. He only finds his spine when dealing with our allies.
